Gutter Cleaning York Lancaster

An additional service at no extra cost is the roof inspection.  Once the debris is cleared from the roof and gutters, we sometimes find a hole, missing shingle, or a vent pipe in  need of re-caulking.

If it can be simply fixed, we will do so at no extra charge. If it is something more major, we will generally offer a temporary solution to buy time for a professional roofer to fit your home into their schedule.  WE ARE BY NO MEANS PROFESSIONAL ROOFERS- However, when our techs are walking on the roof, they do notice issues that would not be seen from the ground.

If and when an issue is found, the tech will:
1-take pictures 2- offer a temporary solution 3- report findings to the customer

This service, which often renders no special issues to report can be very valuable to a homeowner that would otherwise only notice a roof issue once water has saturated drywall.

Gutter Cleaning York Lancaster Harrisburg

What you're looking at in these pictures is evidence of overflowing gutters.  Over time (or sometimes one really heavy rain) the soil against the foundation will get stripped away.  Enough of this occurs and you may end up with water in your basement.

Here is a second indication of full gutters.  You can see the muddy stains on the underside from spillover.

Sorry, I missed the before shots and got right down to business, so here are a few "during" and "after" pictures of the gutters.

Our next step is to move on to the downspouts with a flush.
The flush on this downspout will be ineffective as it was installed improperly.  You can see the frozen drips on the outer edge of the lower piece (YES, we're out in the cold!)

This was a simple, but very needed repair.  No extra materials needed- simply disassemble and reassemble the downspout properly.

Gutter Cleaning/Gutter Repair York PA

Water was running over the edge and washing out the neighbor's flowerbed.

What we found was that the gutter was not really even that blocked up with debris-not surprising at a three story townhouse.  Why so much standing water then?  The gutter was not pitched properly.  The simplest solution was to install an additional downspout.  If it was a shorted run of gutter, I may have opted to re-pitch the gutter.

There is the finished product.

Sizing up Gutter Guards Screens Which one is best for You

If you think gutter covers or screens solve the issue of clogged gutters, notice what has built up under these waterfall covers in Red Lion, PA.  You know the drill, we scoop, we brush....

Here's the part where I'm not sure if I should go...the thing is that you're not supposed to promote yourself by bashing your competition.  I just can't let this one alone though.  I was recently on a competitor's website, looking over the way they breakdown pricing.  Besides the fact that "flushing the downspout" is an extra charge (actually once I added up all the "extras" that we include, I found their pricing to be about THREE times ours), I was stuck on the wording in the gold and platinum level packages: "we will flush the downspout when deemed necessary."
We beg to differ.  It is ALWAYS necessary.  When you grab a clump at the top of the downspout and peer into the top, it may appear clear.  It is not until you apply water pressure to the downspout that you would find out if the water pressure would push out some debris or if more effort is required.

This particular downspout was so blocked up that we had to take it apart to clear it properly.

THIS IS WHY WE SCOOP, BRUSH, AND FLUSH- EVERY JOB, EVERY TIME. Very often, when a new customer has decided to give us a try, we find the downspouts caked with mud- why?? The homeowner will tell you- because their previous gutter cleaner didn't flush the downspouts.

Now that the gutter system is clear of debris, it's time to put it all back in place.  To read more about gutter covers and the maintenance of gutter systems with or without a screen on top check out Gutter Cleaning York Lancaster Harrisburg.

Clogged Downspouts/Overflowing Gutters York, PA

Going back through notes and pictures from November to catch up on blogging on this cold February afternoon....
On a somewhat warmer day in mid November, Central PA homes were in need of gutter cleanings.
This is a brief overview of Manchester to West York:

initial clean out notes-had pine all over, pin hole covers
called up and asked a few questions, said he'd be sending in the agreement
11/12/14, signed twice per year agreement, pine trees- appreciates out service!

"lots of foliage"

 minor repairs needed- flashing mangled

Just a bit more straightforward: only 4 trees on the property, none of which were overhanging the home.
